SPECIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING MY WORK WITH CHILDREN:

  • When assisting children in navigating a challenge, whether social, emotional or academic, I always consider the family system that the child is a part of. 

  • The family system is impacted by the child and his or her struggles as well as the child being impacted by issues and concerns that exist in the family. 

  • This inter-connectedness makes it most useful to always appreciate all of these elements when determining how best to proceed.

FAMILY SYSTEM:

Depending on the particular challenges, I often consult with the school team including:

Teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, special education providers. 

I assist families in understanding expectations and obligations that public schools have to meet the needs of students who are struggling. 

Working in private practice and in schools provides me with a solid understanding of the ways that parents and schools can work together to understand, support, teach and lift students to function at their highest level – academically, socially and emotionally.
